About

Hello there! I am Deni, a full-time bartender since 2000. With my years in bartending, you’d probably assume that I love my job — which is true. But you know, there’s something else that gets me much more excited, and you’ll have to keep reading to find out.

Since I was a kid, I had always been interested in martial arts. I still remember when I was younger, I would always see movies where the protagonist knew some kind of martial art.

They could fight off an attacker with ease and sometimes even make it look cool. I was so thrilled with the fight scenes that I ended up watching Bruce Lee, Jet Li, and Jackie Chan films most of the time and dreamed of one day becoming a martial arts master.

Throughout my younger years, I wanted to learn some martial arts but unfortunately never had the opportunity to do so growing up. I’m from Serbia originally, and back home, most of the kids my age were into team sports like football or basketball.

I never really thought I’d find my passion so late. I always thought my passion was bartending — I’ve been doing it for more than a decade already, and it has always been a fun, creative outlet for me.

But when I moved to Dubai in 2016, I discovered Muay Thai and everything changed. I started taking Muay Thai classes in the same year, and I fell in love with it in an instant. Unlike other sports, Muay Thai is an individual sport. It’s you against your opponent.

There’s no team to rely on, no one to pick you up if you fall. It’s just you and your will to win. I loved the fact that it was such a challenging sport and how it was so different from anything else I had ever done before. I fell in love with the discipline, the movement, the power… Ultimately, every training session is a chance to test your limits and push yourself further.

Now, Muay Thai has become an integral part of my life. It has brought me a level of joy and satisfaction that I never knew was possible. Who would have thought that, at 27 years old, I’d finally find my true passion in life? Certainly not me. But I’m grateful every day that I did.
